Plus de quatre-vingts écrivains et universitaires de pays dont la population est plutôt favorable à Vladimir Poutine, parmi lesquels l’Indienne Arundhati Roy, la Libanaise Hanan El-Cheikh, la Tunisienne Sophie Bessis et le Nigérian Wole Soyinka, prix Nobel de littérature, demandent à « tous ceux et celles qui réclament pour eux la liberté » de « se tenir aux côtés des Ukrainiens ».
